DIY Cleaners

Looking for DIY or homemade cleaners that have NO toxic and harsh chemicals?  Using essential oils in your home have therapeutic benefits as well as wonderful, natural aromas.

Goo Remover
Use 1-2 drops of Lemon essential oil to remove gum, oil, grease spots, glue or adhesives, and crayon from most surfaces!


Carpet Freshener
Add 10-15 drops of Lemon essential oil to a gallon of carpet cleaning solution to help pull out stains, brighten carpets and rugs, and leave the room smelling fresh.


Surface Cleaner
Combine 2–3 drops of Lemon essential oil with water in a spray bottle to help cleanse and sanitize surfaces.

Eliminate Odors
Place a few drops of Lemon essential oil on a cotton ball and put in the refrigerator or other area needed to help eliminate odors.

*AprilsHomemade note - do not leave UNdiluted YL Lemon essential oil on soft plastics, it's great at removing toxins and thus will weaken the plastic.  I would recommend storing in a glass bottle or hard plastic.  Only YL essential oils are completely safe to ingest, the lemon helps to remove toxins safely from your body!  Do not ingest other 'oil' companies lemon as they may have additives. 


Mopping Solution
In a bucket, mix 1/2 cup white vinegar, several drops of Pine essential oil, and 1 gallon of warm water.

Cut down on Odors
Put a few drops of Pine essential oil on a cotton ball and place at the bottom of a trash can or recycling bin to cut down on odors.



 
Repel Insects
Add a few drops of lavender essential oil to a cotton ball and place it in closets and drawers to scent linens and repel moths and insects.

All purpose
Mix 1 capful Thieves Household Cleaner + 2-3 cups water in a spray bottle.  Use on any surface and wipe away.
Glass and Mirror
In a glass spray bottle, mix 1 capful Thieves Household Cleaner + 5 drops Lemon essential oil +1 tsp white vinegar + 3 cups water.  Spray glass and mirros and wipe away.
Deep Clean Scrubbing
Mix Thieves Household Cleaner with baking soda to form a thick paste.  Use this paste to scrub sinks and tubs.

 *AprilsHomemade note - 1 capful goes a very long way.  Love this cleaner for my floors!  There are mix ratios on the YL site for other cleaning ideas (see links below)



Elminate Stale Air and Odors

• Add Purification essential oil blend to your washing machine to freshen laundry.
• Add a couple drops of Purification essential oil blend to shoes to help neutralize odors.
• Add a few drops of Purification essential oil blend to a cotton ball to help eliminate stale air in the office or your child’s room.
• Diffuse Purification essential oil blend to dispel unpleasant odors and clear the air of impurities.
• Diffuse Purification essential oil blend to eliminate odors after the dog returns from playing outdoors in the rain.

*AprilsHomemade note - We turned on our heater for the first of the season and diffusing Purification  quickly eliminated that 'burning' smell!
